We are thrilled to share some exciting news - Alameda Island Brewing Company and Oakland's very own coffee bean roasters, Bicycle Coffee, are proud to announce the upcoming release of our collaboration project: Pedal to the People.
"Pedal to the People" represents a nine-month long collaboration with only one common goal and driving force behind the project: to bring a high-quality, robust, balanced collab-beer to our local community that best represents the area's uniqueness. Both AIBC and Bicycle Coffee are independently owned and operated local businesses that produce great products and support local, independent growth, so this release is expected to be nothing short of outstanding!
On to the style...Pedal to the People is a Barrel-Aged Imperial Coffee Stout Porter. A Stout Porter? That's right, a Stout Porter. Here's a little more info:
These days, there really is no difference between stouts and porters. The porter style is a descendant of the English brown ale, and stout was used to describe a stronger porter. Those stronger porters were often called Stout Porters, and that's where our brewer went with the style. He also mimicked the water profile from Burton upon Trent where the style was prolific.
The beer is already aging in Bourbon barrels, and Bicycle Coffee will provide us with their special addition soon. Expected release date will be late this year, and there will only be a limited number of bottles made available. What can we tell you about it at this stage? It already tastes amazing! #bicyclecoffee #alamedaislandbrewing #aibc #coffeebeer #barrelagedcoffeebeer ... See MoreSee Less
We didn't think our house band could be more awesome, but...not only are they putting on another amazing show on Saturday (and it's Carlo's birthday) they are collecting for the Alameda families who lost everything in a tragic fire last weekend. Anything you can do to help our neighbors is greatly appreciated. ... See MoreSee Less
